About Department

The Department of Fire Engineering was established in the year 2007-08 with an intake of 60 students in “Diploma in Fire Service Engineering” (MSBTE, Govt. of Maharashtra), “B.Sc. in Fire & Industrial Safety” in the year 2016-17 with an intake of 40 students. The Department of Fire Engineering was formed with the primary objective of providing world class education in the field of Fire and Safety Engineering, while addressing the problems of today and tomorrow. Right from its inception, the department has been offering excellent infrastructural facilities with various sectors like oil and gas, aerospace, chemical, assembly & manufacturing and construction of safety platforms for aspiring professional students to meet the growing demands of the safety-related concerns in the various industries by proper application of engineering methods for a safe work environment. The department imparts world class training, research and provides state of the safety equipment’s facilities to the students. The department offers the students with constant motivation and support to bring out their talents in curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular perspectives, thus, uplifting them into dynamic professionals. Our faculty and staff are our biggest strength, with industrial experience and exposure, specialized in engineering disciplines such as Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Safety, and Fire Engineering. Through a combination of formal lectures and hands-on experience in well-equipped laboratories and experiential learning through practical training, we ensure a productive learning environment.

Department of Fire Engineering is an organization that focuses on innovative approaches to Fire and Safety Engineering. Diploma in Fire Engineering will be able to:

  • 1. Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • 2. Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

Rising industrialization, infrastructural development such as schools, colleges, shopping centres, offices and high rise apartments have escalated the demand for experts in the field. The course offers practical training in fire fighting techniques, handling of fire equipment and appliances, life rescue techniques and more. The students are also taught fire engineering science, safety engineering and management. The curriculum also includes topics on provisions of factory act & laws on Health, Safety & Environment. Those who ain expertise in this field can get jobs as Fire Officer, Sub-Officer, Jr. Fire Officer, Safety Officer, HSE Officer, Safety Supervisor, Fire Marshal, Fireman, Leading Firemen, Auditors, Fire Consultant depending on the expertise and skills.
